It seems like all we are hearing about now a days is "social media this" and "social media that"...but is it really so important? Is all of this buzz about social media important to young business entrepreneurs with the advancements in technology?? The answer is absolutely, the need for knowledge of social media is imperative now more than ever! The question is, how do we get excited about it? What are some of social media's incentives? An article I found outlines three important incentives and advantages that come along with participating in different media outlets.
#1. Personal branding is a key aspect that is used in so many different career fields. Making yourself into a brand is how you are going to "sell yourself" in the business world, and a great start to developing your personal brand is through social media.
#2. Innovation. Social media outlets are a great way to generate and create ideas. Brainstorming is always a good place to begin new developments, but the added feedback you can receive from peers or professionals is something we shouldn't shy away from.
#3. Engagement. Being engaged as well as informed about the business world around you is a necessity when competing in the business world. Social media is a convenient way to stay on top of your current events and increase your overall awareness.
Although there are MANY other advantages you receive from participating in social media networks, the Social Media Club has outlined these as the top three relating to students entering the job force.
