With the upcoming public statement to be released from Tiger Woods this Friday, majority of my sports articles in my google reader are concerned with the statement. Reading through the articles, it really makes me wonder if this is a sincere move from Tiger. I understand that Tiger is in a position where he needs to focus on rebuilding his personal brand with this public statement of apology, but I do not think I am convinced. The first few articles I read had quoted statements between Tiger and his PR personnel telling him to face the music, tell the media he wants to focus on God and his family, and hope they buy it. How can anything Tiger says seem sincere after hearing about this conversation right when the allegations surfaced?
Although Tiger has lost a few endorsement deals with different companies, the media still seems to think Tiger can ride out this storm. Although he is going through a rough patch, this is not the worst society has seen, and there is a high chance of coming out of this situation with a clean image. I do feel like that with this "therapy" and focusing on his family and working on a relationship with God and his children and wife, the fans and media may potentially forgive Tiger and he could move towards being the ultimate again.
With that being said, is it true or just for show? Does Tiger really want to work on becoming a family man or does he want his endorsements back? Is Tiger going to therapy to get his life back on track, or is he doing it to get back in the competition. If he was not in the public eye, would Tiger even be going to therapy or going through these brand rebuilding steps? Sadly, I do not think he would.
Tiger Woods is someone who is in the public eye; every move he makes is monitored by his fans and the media, and by ruining his good brand name, he now needs to do anything he can to rebuild it in a more positive light. I hope Tiger is sincere in his apologies Friday morning and can work towards rebuilding his family because at the end of the day, family is the most important thing, especially for a celebrity.

Social Media...What's the Inventive?
It seems like all we are hearing about now a days is "social media this" and "social media that"...but is it really so important? Is all of this buzz about social media important to young business entrepreneurs with the advancements in technology?? The answer is absolutely, the need for knowledge of social media is imperative now more than ever! The question is, how do we get excited about it? What are some of social media's incentives? An article I found outlines three important incentives and advantages that come along with participating in different media outlets.
#1. Personal branding is a key aspect that is used in so many different career fields. Making yourself into a brand is how you are going to "sell yourself" in the business world, and a great start to developing your personal brand is through social media.
#2. Innovation. Social media outlets are a great way to generate and create ideas. Brainstorming is always a good place to begin new developments, but the added feedback you can receive from peers or professionals is something we shouldn't shy away from.
#3. Engagement. Being engaged as well as informed about the business world around you is a necessity when competing in the business world. Social media is a convenient way to stay on top of your current events and increase your overall awareness.
Although there are MANY other advantages you receive from participating in social media networks, the Social Media Club has outlined these as the top three relating to students entering the job force.

Tiger Woods Brand Value Increases??
The most recent article on my ESPN news feed has Tiger Woods as it's topic, and since my group is doing our project on him, I felt like reading it would be worth my while!
This article is titled "Troubled Tiger still tops Forbes' brand list" and the headline states that Tiger still tops the sports brand industry with a value of $82 million. His affiliation with Nike, Procter and Gamble Co Gillett's brand, and Electronic Arts Inc have made him the world's highest paid athlete in the year 2010. Although Woods is still supported by three of his original sponsors, companies such as AT&T as well as Accenture have decided to drop him from their campaign due to the allegations of his multiple affairs. So why is it, after these allegations, Woods is still the number one most branded athlete in 2010?
As the saying goes "No publicity is bad publicity" and I think this saying definitely applies for Tiger Woods. Those who were not aware of his athletic status before, after the allegations, may not know him for his golfing talents, but would recognize his name now at the drop of a hat. All of the buzz and news about his current affairs have made Tiger Woods a social currency today, and this is why no publicity is bad publicity. The stir that comes with Woods draws attention to the brands he is contracted with, giving them publicity in the process. This reinforces the importance of branding, and how beneficial it can be to market your brand efficiently in good times and in bad!
