Welcome to the world of Blogging!!



I guess I will start off with a little introduction of myself...



My name is Laura Sielaff and I am a senior at Grand Valley State University, graduating Spring 2010. I attended Grand Rapids Community College right out of high school for two years and received my associates degree in General Business studies. I am majoring in Marketing, but my passion lies with sports. Hopefully when I am all grown up, I will be doing marketing/advertising/public relations for a NHL or NFL sports team. I am looking for an internship relating to the sports marketing field because I feel like getting into such a niche field is something that is going to require a little "grunt work"....got to start somewhere, and I am ok with starting at the bottom and working my way towards the top!



All of the feeds and articles I have subscribed to all relate to career path I am following; sport and marketing. An internship I completed my first year at GVSU really introduced me to the social media world, and I began to understand just how IMPORTANT it is in the current marketing world. The ESPN subscription is based off of my love for ESPN. My roomates get mad at me when we sit down to watch TV because I turn on ESPN over any other channel. :) I am obsessed with the news, local, national, and international. I feel like by watching the news and keeping up on my current events I am more aware of the happenings and most defiantly have more to small talk about.



As for now, I am still pursuing another internship. We all know they look great on resumes (and from the interviews I have been on since my first internship...employers love the experience) but I am looking for one relating SOMEHOW to sports. My restaurant job will have to settle for now, but hopefully opportunity will knock on my door soon! I am excited to follow my subscriptions and feeds and looking to learn more about social media marketing and how I can utilize it in the sports industry!! I think this blog assignment is going to be very beneficial in the long run!!
